May 21, 2018

It was great to skyp with you.

Ya, we put people on baptismal dates but really you can put anyone on date. hahaha They don’t really understand what it really means so i usually don’t like to put people on a date until they have been to church.

Soccer is bigger than rugby in South Africa.

Yes, i keep a journal, and I’m actually really really good about writing too. The first year of my mission was rough but now i write in it every day and have been for about 9 months now!

This week was good, I’m not sick anymore and we found 10 new investigators but sadly no one came to church. By the way, I’m killing it at being the branch pianist!  You would be so proud of me!

haha love you,

May 9, 2018

Well, i don’t have time sadly, but i will make it quick.

I would say 92% of the missionaries, if not 100% have cars but on MLC they talked about fading the cars away and bring more missionaries into the mission but i don’t know what they are going to do.

We get rain every week but it’s not a lot, just like a little trickle. But then it will rain hard for like 20 min and that’s it.

Yesterday we had a sweet mission tour with Elder Nielson from the missionary department and Elder Palmer of the 70 and my fav comments were;

-If we don’t have loads in our life we won’t be moving forward. Also submit cheerfully and pull with Jesus Christ.

-Don’t just tolerate your companion but embrace who they are.

Just some thought but this week was also super good, I’m emailing Tuesday because we had the mission tour on our pday so we get another pday. We had 5 investigators at church and it was great!!!!! 3 of them are really progressing to baptism and one of them professed that they know this is the true church and desires to be a part of it! I love this area, love my comp, love this work. I know that Jesus Christ lives and that He leads inspired leaders today!

May 1, 2018

Wow, this week was awesome! I’ll just start by saying we found 12 new investigators!!! We have maybe 2 or 3 investigators now who are strongly progressing towards baptism and i think they will be baptized in May! I’m super exciting. I currently just got back from hiking Table Moutain, Ya, I’m never going to do it again. I think I could compare it to hiking TimP, up aspen grove way! Yo it was rough and the whole time is straight up climbing with huge stairs! It’s not that long just super steep and takes forever to hike haha.

My new companion is Elder Mabunda, is from Johannesburg. He is a sotho if that means anything to you hahaha. But let me compare him to someone. If you know elder Calhoun from the best 2 years, ya that’s my companion hahaha. He is so funny.  Man i love him so much already! He is seriously exactly like him, obedience wise, Question wises, like to the T. It’s starting to get colder here.

How big is my area? Hmm, hahah i don’t really know. There are some mountains in our area that we have to drive over sometimes to get to the other houses so it’s hard to tell but maybe 10sq miles of houses and people maybe, maybe a little more.

I wish we had more missionaries in the mission but we only have like 80 and it never changes. i don’t know why our mission pres doesn’t request for more missionaries.

One morning i opened the window and the cold wind hit me and i seriously thought i was at the top of bogus for a second.  That’s what it felt like! It’s rained the past few days, because I’m the in southern peninsula of cape town. i think it rains more here so I’m seriously doubting it has a drought!

There are 2 units in our area, a ward and branch. The branch is all black and a few coloreds (meaning they are a descendant of a black and a white mother and father and they look kind of Mexican in complexion but they act crazy! They are the ones to be scared of here. Our new branch president is a colored and he is the military fitness trainer of all the people that are trying to get in shape at the navy base which is in our area. He is a way cool guy. man i would love for you guys to meet some of these people!

it was a solid week and I’m excited to see what happens next week with out investigators. Tomorrow morning we’re going to a breakfast at a Presbyterian church haha going to be exciting!
